About Your Instructors:
Scott Lane graduated from Montana State University in 2003 with a degree in K-12 Art Education, and he has been teaching ceramics at Capital High School ever since. Scott focuses on wheel throwing, with specialties that include custom-made glazes and alternative firings, like raku.
He spends his free time in the mountains: hunting, fishing, shed hunting, and scouting. He also sells his personal ceramics through Garnet Mountain Pottery, named after the mountain range where he built a log cabin for their family.

Megan Lane graduated from Montana State University the same year as Scott with degrees in Biology and Secondary Science Education. She has been teaching Biology at CR Anderson Middle School since 2004.
Though she doesn't have an art degree, Megan has owned and operated Megan Lane Photography since 2009. Her photography has been featured in numerous local and national publications. She's also had multiple "Best of Helena" and "Best of the West" awards for her wedding and portrait photography. Together, she and Scott photographed over 100 weddings before retiring from wedding photography in 2021. Megan still continues the portrait side of her business (baby, family, Seniors).
In her free time, Megan loves reading, cross stitching, and spending time at their cabin in the Garnet Mountains.

Both Scott and Megan are passionate teachers who have been honored as Helena Education Foundation's Distinguished Educators multiple times over the past twenty years.

The Lanes have three school-aged kids, a sassy cat, a brand-new kitten, and a *very* rambunctious lab. They feel lucky to be raising their family in the Helena community with it's amazing support for education and the arts.
Scott & Megan are excited to offer Helena-area tweens, teens, and adults a new opportunity to cultivate personal creativity, while building community with like-minded people.
